From as far back as historical records exist there seems to be a process of domination over weaker human beings by stronger ones that if left unchecked has always led to a gross imbalance of wealth, opportunity, and privilege. This process has allowed the top 1% to double their wealth since the 1970s. They now own more than we, the bottom 95%, while our real wages have declined. This 1% makes the rules. It is argued that this is the result of the Darwinian concept of survival of the fittest and is accepted not only as scientific fact but as probably a good idea since the weaker, less intelligent, and more docile creatures have no business calling the shots and are better off under the control of the ones who know best. Only a select few are in a position to see the big picture and therefore should be allowed to steer the ship into a future that only they can see clearly.

The historical zenith of this convenient rationalization on the part of 'the strong' is the WTO. Maybe being in a privileged position always results in an abuse of power because of some genetic inevitability; we may be hardwired to destroy the environment and control our weaker neighbors as a result of millions of years of selective breeding that gives us no choice but to play out this cruel drama over and over again . A CEO whose Northern European ancestor's survival depended on how much firewood he could cut has no moral dilemma about clearcutting an ancient forest. In his mind he may be just providing his family with a warmer cave. If this is true we don't have the luxury of waiting around for the situation to correct itself. The Earth is about to collapse under the weight of 6 billion people and there's no more slack left. We've got to say fuck you to Darwin and change the evolutionary process real quick to one that allows for rationality and justice to dominate over brute wealth. The protesters in Seattle may have proven that this is possible.

The WTO, G7, World Bank, IMF, Structural Adjustment Programs-these issues were the domain of specialists only a decade ago. Now they are at the center of a world anti-capitalist movement that includes most progressive ideologies under one common cause: survival of the human race! The future extrapolated from the WTO model is a defacto World Government whose authority supersedes the laws of soveriengn nations run in secret by a handful of unelected corporate functionaries. The goal is the expropriation and control of all the labor and resources on the planet without concern for the environmental or human consequences. We are running a race against time. The amount of damage already done is horrible if not irreversible.

A world revolutionary movement cannot afford to make mistakes and had better use every means at its disposal to combat these institutions and either replace them or reform them. The internet may be its secret weapon. It facilitated a surprise attack in Seattle which actually stopped this thing in its tracks temporarily. Without continued effort, coordination and more participation the WTO will get back on it's feet and ultimately prevail.

This question comes to mind; Why? Is there some evil cabal, maybe the Bilderbergs, who are consciously trying to destroy us while grabbing everything they can get for themselves as they've mastered the game board of globalization? Is it the nature of the game itself that will never allow the human democratic spirit to be uncaged? Are they the fittest? If this is true, there's a deeper historical/biological actuality at work here. It could be that at some point maybe 10-20 thousand years ago when we began to dominate nature by domesticating plants and animals, we set in motion a history out of sync with natural law. Fueled by an absurd monotheistic patriarchal dogma, this technology-worshiping civilization has fractally unfolded an unforeseen brick wall before us.

The only way around the wall is through it. The reason this concept is so hard to fathom is that we have centuries of genetic and cultural programming to overcome before any rational, practical and self sustaining relationship with Gaian intelligence can be envisioned. The majority of us are taught to dominate, not coexist with nature. All around us, one dimension away is a blueprint for building an enlightened technocracy. We've got to get rid of the need to accumulate and destroy, and instead reestablish a spiritual connection with wild animals, plants, rocks, bodies of water, cloud formations, the universe, and true mystery and magic before we'll comprehend why the neatly defined world that the global capitalists proscribe is a boring and barren vision.
